Melissa Auerbach
Supervisor

I’m Melissa, and my journey into the world of supporting individuals with special needs began when I was just seventeen years old. It all started with an after-school job at an Elementary School, where I found myself drawn to a little boy who sat apart from his peers, quietly navigating his world. Learning that he was autistic ignited a spark within me, and from that moment on, I made it my mission to connect with him and help him engage with others. Witnessing his progress inspired a passion within me that has only grown stronger over time.

After high school, I embarked on a role as a 1:1 paraprofessional, supporting a 3rd-grade boy diagnosed with autism. Despite facing challenges and limited support, I relied on my instincts, knowledge gleaned from psychology classes, and my unwavering passion for working with children to make a meaningful difference in his life. Seeing him learn to read and witnessing a reduction in his aggressive behaviors reinforced my dedication to this path.

It was during this time that I crossed paths with my mentor and idol, Tricia Longaker, at the Behavioral Counseling and Research Center. Her guidance and philosophy became my compass, setting me on a course toward becoming an ABA Supervisor. Over the years, I've worked in various settings, from schools to residential programs, supporting individuals across a wide range of ages and disabilities.

Although life took me away from Sonoma County for a while, fate brought me back into Tricia's orbit, now as she leads Inspire Behavioral Services. Reuniting with her felt like coming home, reaffirming my belief that there is no limit to the love and support we can provide children. Every child deserves a safe, inclusive environment to thrive, and it's our privilege to equip them with the tools they need to succeed.

Working alongside Tricia at Inspire is not just a job—it's an honor and a calling. Serving individuals with disabilities isn't just what I do; it's my life's work. Each day, I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact and to be part of a community dedicated to empowering every child to reach their fullest potential, regardless of their background or abilities.
